Venue: ChangePoint Alaska, 6689 Changepoint Drive, Anchorage AK 99518

Time: 8 am

Welcome to the Anchorage Mayor's Prayer Breakfast Website

The Mayor's Prayer Breakfast is a gathering of Christians to corporately pray for their city in obedience to the biblical injunction of 1 Timothy 2:1-2, "Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth."

The Mayor's Prayer Breakfast is not sponsored by the government but operates as a non-profit and non-political entity, refraining from any attempts to influence legislation or engage in political activities. Her core objectives are:

1. Engaging in corporate prayer for the mayor, those in authority, the entire Anchorage muni, the state of Alaska, and the nation

2. Educating Christians about their spiritual and civic role in ensuring good governance and peace throughout the entire city. This includes promoting Christian core values and empowering Christians to recognize the significance of their role in community development

3. Encouraging Christian benevolence and care for our neighbors in need through active support and participation in local nonprofit and community service organizations.

Christians Praying, Understanding, and Caring for their City

Praying for Anchorage:

It is now of utmost importance that every Christian commits to praying for Anchorage. We pray by faith and in the hope that God will forgive our sins, heal, and bless our city.

According to 1 Chronicles 7:14, God promises, "if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land." Our prayers for the city serve as a shield against the plans of the devil mechanizations that may threaten our Christian values or good governance.

This gathering is patterned after the National Prayer Breakfast and supports events such as the Alaska Prayer Conference, the National Day of Prayer, and any other initiatives that bring our city's leaders together to seek God's guidance in governing our community.

Understanding Anchorage

As the Bible advises, "In all your getting, get understanding." This phrase is often overlooked when it comes to civic responsibilities in our city. Our goal is to support educational efforts rooted in faith-based teachings about our civic role in governance. We aim to empower individuals to actively participate in shaping a socio-cultural environment that protects our fundamental Christian principles.

Within this forum, we assess our strengths and weaknesses, working as a united body of believers to champion the thriving of the municipality of Anchorage and promote our shared Christian values. In 2 Ki 2:19-22, the Bible says, "Then the men of the city said to Elisha, Please notice, the situation of this city is pleasant, as my lord sees; but the water is bad, and the ground barren... So the water remains healed to this day, according to the word of Elisha, which he spoke.” They understood their city, which led to a focused prophetic action that led to the healing of the water.

Caring for Anchorage:

Do you have a heart for Anchorage? Many of us reside in this wonderful city but may not actively engage in addressing its needs. This platform aims to inform and mobilize Anchorage Christians to contribute to the welfare of our neighbors in need. We encourage Christians to support faith-based nonprofits through prayer, volunteering, and financial support in the pursuit of solutions to combat poverty and hunger in Anchorage. We will continue to be advocates for faith-based organizations to ensure that God's purpose and agenda for our city are fulfilled.

According to Jas 2:15–17, "If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, and one of you says to them, “Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,” but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit? Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead." See also James 1:27 and Mtt 25:34-40.
